Guwahati is the capital city of the state Assam. With the fabulous touch of the river Bramhaputra, Guwahati is the gateway to the enchanting North East India. Some of the worth places around Guwahati are –
1.       State Zoo – cun  Botanical Garden
Oppening hours between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in summer and 8 a.m to 4.30 a.m. in winter. Friday closed.
2.       Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra
A park cum institution of cultural heritage of Assam.
3.       Assam state museum
Opening 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday closed.
4.       Other Attractions in Guwahati
Boating facility in Dighalipukhuri, Cruises on the river Bramhaputra, Balaji Temple, Planetarium, sarighat Bridge over Brmahputra, Guwahati oil refinery, Umanada temple in  Bramhaputra, Basistha temple with beautiful greenery and Kamakhaya Devi Temple at the hill top Manikanchan Hill.
5.       Chandubi Lake
A Natural water reservoir which is 64 km away from Guwahati. Ideal for  picnic party. Best time to visit November to April.
6.       Sualkuchi
It is a silk village of Assam popularly known as Manchester of the East which 32 km away from Guwahati. It is the production centre of silk garments in Assam. Garments weaved are of the Golden Muga silk, the white Pat silk and warm Eri silk.

Hajo
It is located 32 km away from Guwahati. It is a place of union of three religions – Hinduism, Muslim & Buddhism. Hayagriva Madhab Temple- there is belief that the temple contains relic of Lord Buddha and a section of Buddhist hold that Lord Buddha attained Nirvana here. A large number of Bhutanese visit the temple every year during winter season.  The place of pilgrimage for muslim is poa Mecca.
