Pobitara Wildlife Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is famous for the highest density of endangered one horned Rhinoceros. It is located in Morigaon district of Assam and is close to Guwahati City. It covers an area of 38.81 square kilometers with a hilly forest and alluvial grassland. This is also an Important Bird Area where you can see many native and migratory birds, especially during winter season.
Best time for visit: The ideal time to visit Pobitara is November to March
What you expect to see in the park: The Sanctuary, recorded 81 Rhinoceros in April 2006Mammals. Other animals found in the Sanctuary are Leopard, Leopard cat, Fishing cat, Jungle cat, feral Buffalo, Wild pigs, Chinese pangolins etc. Altogether 375 species of both migratory and resident birds have been recorded so far in the Sanctuary. It is also an important breeding ground for a variety of fishes. Around 27 species of reptiles have been recorded in the Sanctuary.
Activities and facilities for Visitors – Visitors can enjoy Elephant ride & Jeep Safari. The place is a suitable site for bird watching. There is a picnic spot near Garanga Beel.

How to reach Pobitara: The nearest airport is Guwahati Airport which is 35 Kms. From Guwahati one can go by taxi or bus.

Orang National Park
Rajiv Gandhi orang national Park is the oldest game reserve of the State of Assam, India. It is situated at the northern bank of river Brahmaputra with an area of 78.80 sq. kms. The park is famous as an important breeding ground for varieties of Fishes. Tourist from all over the world visited this park every year, especially to see the varieties of birds including migratory birds.
Best season for visit: The ideal time to visit the park is November to April.
What you expect to see in the park: The commonly found animals in the park are Rhinoceros, Tiger, Maljuria Elephants (male elephants in group,), Hog Deer, Wild Pig, Civet Cat, Porcupine and Gangetic Dolphin. There are 222 species of birds including migratory birds have been recorded so far. Some of them are Spot Billed Pelican, White Pelican, Greater Adjutant Stork, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Brahminy Duck, Pintail Duck, Bengal Florican(2nd.highest concentration) etc. The most commonly found reptiles are Indian Rock Python, Black Krait, King Cobra, Cobra, Monitor Lizard.
How to reach Orang National Park: The nearest Airport is Salonibari (Tezpur) Which is 80 kms away from the park. The Guwahati Airport is 150 kms away. It is located 18 kms. south of the N.H. 52 at Dhansirighat.
Accommodations’ in and around the park: Satsimalu Rest House and Silbori Rest House located near the entrance to the park managed by the Tourism Department. It can accommodate 16 people at a time. It has 8 small cottages also.The Forest Dormitory provides group accommodation for 40 people.

Nameri National Park
The Nameri National Park is located in the Sonitpur district of Assam, which covers an area of 200 sq. kms. It is also the core area of Nameri Tiger Reserve (344 Sq. km.). The adventures sports like fishing, angling and river rafting in the Jia Bhoroli River in the south-western part of the park are the major tourist attractions in the park.
Best season for visit : November to April
What you expect to see : The park is famous for many endangered animals like Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Elephant, Gaur, Wild Pigs, Sambar, Barking Deer, Hispid hare, Slow Loris, Capped Langur, Dhole, Sloth Bear,Burmese ferret Badger, Binturong etc. The commonly found birds are White Winged Wood duck, Palla's fish-eagle, Lesser Adjutant Stork, Greater spotted Eagle, White ramped vulture, Long billed vulture, Black bellied Tern, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, Great Pied Hornbill etc .Reptiles are also one of the important habitant of the park. The reptiles include Assam Roofed Turtle, Indian Soft Shell Turtle, Indian Flap Shell Turtle, Keeled Box Turtle, South East Asian Leaf Turtle, Common Blind Snake, Myanmarese Python, Indian Cobra, King Cobra, Pit Viper, Monitor Lizard.

How to reach Nameri National Park - Salonibari Airport (Tezpur) is the nearest Airport to reach the park which is 34 kms away, and Tezpur is 40 kms., Guwahati is 220 kms., Jorhat is 215 Kms, Nowgong is 110 Kms. and Kaziranga is 125 kms

A Glimpse of Biodiversity in Assam

Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park is located in Golaghat and Nagoan district of the state of Assam in India. It is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is covered by dense forest, marshes and pools and tall elephant grass with around 546 species of flora. The park is famous for its one horned Rhinoceros and many other rare endangered spices. In 2006 the park was declared as a Tiger Reserve with the highest number of tigers found in the world. The other animals found here are Water buffalo, Indian Gray Mongoose, Swamp Deer, Elephants, Leopard, Large Indian Civet, Sloth Bear, Bengal Fox and many more.
The park is well known for native as well as migratory birds. Birdlife International has recognized the park as a significant bird. The commonly found bird species are White Fronted Goose, Ferruginous Duck, Baer’s Pochard duck, Greater Adjutant, Lesser Adjutant, Asian Openbill, Palla’s Fish, Black necked Stork.

By Air: The nearest Airport is at Jorhat which is 96 kilometers away. Jorhat is well connected with Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati. For the foreigners Guwahati Airport will be the best choice which is about 200 kilometers away from the park. 
By Rail: The nearest railway station is Furkating which is 80 kilometers away. 

By Bus: The park is well connected by road from all parts of Assam along with the capital city Guwahati

Manas National Park

 Manas National park is located in the foothill of Himalayan Mountain in Barpata district of Assam. It was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1974 and a biosphere reserve in 1989. In 1985 it became a UNESCO world heritage site and after 5 years in 1990 it was declared as a National Park. The park is famous for its scenic beauty and many endangered species of flora and fauna. About 20 endangered species of animals and varieties of birds are found here.
The commonly found animals in this park are Elephant, Tiger, Rhino, Golden Langur, Hispid Hare, Assamese Macaque, Leopard, Golden Cat, Clouded leopard, Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Indian Civet, Toddy Cat, Himalaya palm civet, Binturong, Common mongoose, Small Indian mongoose, Himalayan black bear, Sloth bear, Gaur, Water buffalo, Sambar, Hog deer, Barking deer, Swamp deer, Wild pigs etc.
